A full truckload shipment, more commonly referred to as FTL, is a type of shipping method where the truck contains enough freight from one customer in a single shipment to fill an entire semi-trailer. In comparison to less-than truckload shipments, FTL carriers transport the freight directly to its destination versus being moved from trailer to trailer. This means there is much less handling of the shipment, as the contents are not transferred between trucks while in transit, so there is a lower chance for the shipment to be lost or damaged.
A full truckload shipment can range from 10 to 30 or more pallets if stackable. The largest restriction of a FTL shipment is the space the items take up.
