US Truck Tonnage Rises For 16th Consecutive Month
The America Trucking Association reported truck tonnage increased approximately 6.3% in March. This marked the 16th consecutive year over year increase in the U.S. Additionally tonnage if the first quarter rose 6.1 compared with the same period last year.
There is a concern higher fuel prices may effect consumer spending which in turn effects trucking tonnage. Even with higher fuel prices the American Trucking Association is generally optimistic about the volume increases in March and the first part of April. This optimism is reflected in comments from trucking companies of all sizes.
