According to a recent survey conducted by Transport Capital Partners, truckload rates are accelerating as large and small trucking companies raise pricing to shippers. The percentage of the trucking companies raising rates has climbed from 53% in February to 83% in May. The increase in rates ranged from as low as 5% to as much as 15%.
The survey also indicated carriers expect truckload rates in increase in the second of half of 2011 and price increases are just beginning. Most carriers believe rates would rise over the next year and did not expect any decreases in pricing.
