Trucking Bankruptcies Still a Factor For Truckload Capacity
The rate of trucking bankruptcies is declining. Trucking bankruptcies fell 18.5% in the third quarter of 2010 as compared to the same period in 2009, to 330 closings, taking an estimated 10,685 trucks out of the market, according to Avondale Partners. The number of bankruptcies declined over the first nine months of 2010, the investment research firm said, but each quarter, failures cut deeper into capacity. Avondale estimates bankruptcies were responsible for pulling 55,405 from the road in the first three quarters of 2010.
