Over The Road Trucking Remains Mode of Choice For Shippers
According to the 2012 edition of “American Trucking Trends” published by the American Trucking Association, trucking continues to be the dominant mode of transportation, with the industry hauling 67% of all freight in 2011. The trucking industry transported approximately 9.2 billion tons of freight in 2011, which accounted for 80.9% of the $603.9 billion total freight spend, according to the report.
The report also noted that 90% of the 1.2 million carriers in the U.S. operate six or fewer trucks, and 97%of carriers operate fleets of 20 or fewer trucks.
All America Transportation, Inc. specializes in working with smaller carriers that their shipper clients would not typically have access to or contact with. Each and every carrier must meet stringent safety and reliability qualifications set forth by All America Transportation. We feel that communication and service levels are much higher with our smaller carrier-partners, since there are fewer “layers” of people and processes to go through in order to manage and transact daily business.
In the Logistics business, decisions are made “on the fly” and All America Transportation along with our carrier-partners can react almost instantaneously to issues such as an order that must be redirected to another location, production issues resulting in delays, or a last-minute request for a truck because of communication break-downs between customers, customer service reps, or shipping managers.
