Early Harvests Mean Early Freight Rate Hikes

With unseasonably warm temperatures early this year, produce season has spurred tight capacity at least three weeks earlier than in 2011. Harvests are expected to be plentiful this year and produce season is already in high gear. Reefer rates increased $.08 as a national average in April, with seasonal markets such as Florida, Georgia, and California gaining the most.
