Cargo Theft Increases in 2010
Freight Watch International, the leading global logistics security provider, recently released it’s Bi-Annual Cargo Theft Report. Although the thefts vary between commodities and groups, cargo theft was slightly up in 2010.
Freight Watch International reported cargo theft gangs are seeking larger profits per theft and are targeting their approach to multi-trailer thefts and large scale warehouse burglaries. Food and beverages are the most commonly stolen by thieves, accounting for 22% of all theft incidents. Meat products, canned beverages, and raw products were the most commonly stolen food products. Electronics were the second most commonly stole items accounting for 19% of all incidents.
